Today I’m going to get a little deeper with y’all, so bear with me.
When I first started this blog, I knew I wanted to include more than just clothes and all the other fun stuff I find. I really wanted to put a part of myself into this blog, really make this blog reflect who I am. It’s been hard trying to figure out how to do that without seeming like I was preaching (I am, after all, the big sister and I tend to do that a lot).
So here’s my first attempt. It probably won’t be perfect, and people might not care to read it, but I feel like this is an important part to include in my blog.
Recently I bought this book, called Jesus Calling because I had heard so much about it and had become really curious. Now I’m not the most religious person (anymore) but I knew something was missing in my life and thought this book might be a good place to start. Wow, it has changed my life! Literally.
Jesus Calling is a 365-day devotional. I’m barely on the 4th day (since I just got it and there’s an entry for each day of the year) and already felt compelled to share it with yall!
Just listen to this:
You are on the right path. Listen more to Me and less to your doubts. I am leading you along the way I designed just for you. Therefore, it is a lonely way, humanly speaking. But I go before you as well as alongside you, so you are never alone.
Stop judging and evaluating yourself, for this is not your role. Above all, stop comparing yourself with other people. This produces feelings of pride and inferiority, sometimes a mixture of both. I lead My children along a path that is uniquely tailor-made for him or her. Comparing is not only wrong; it is meaningless.
And one more:
A grateful heart protects you from negative thinking.
I don’t know about you, but it’s stuff like this that help you get through the day, especially when you’re having a bad one.
My department at my corporate day job has been going through some stuff and it has really been really affecting me in a negative way. But since I started reading this devotional, I’ve started gaining some Peace knowing that I can let go of that stress because it’s already taken care of!
If you’ve read this book before or have thought of getting a copy of your own, let me know! I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
