Gather, Sip, Create at DIY Studio SA

With the co-owners Christy and Cindy – my DIY fairy godmothers!

Ok, let me be the first to admit that I am a Pinterest-teneur. I have a personal Pinterest account with over 100 boards 😳 ranging from recipes, DIY projects, fashion and home decor. And I swear I am going to try every single pin. Ehehe. 😅 Anyone else?

So how cool would it be if I told you that you could make your DIY Pinterest dreams a reality? Live Pinterest. Yeah, I know, so cool!!! The walls in my apartment will finally have some decor, made by moi!

Well my dear San Antonians, a new shop has opened up in the Alamo Heights area (right next to the McNay) which makes Pinterest dreams come true! DIY Studio is a mother-daughter owned business that provides everything you need to create amazing crafts ranging from signs, string art, bags and wine bottle art. Cindy wanted to break away from the work-go home-work circle and spend more time with her family, including her art major daughter, Christy. Together they are the heart of DIY Studio and made their love of crafting into a business we can all enjoy! Let me explain to y’all how it works.

Gather. At DIY studio you can book private parties such as birthdays, bridal showers or corporate events. You go online to make a reservation (walk ins are welcome as well) and pick out a project. They then provide the steps and materials to do it so you don’t have to worry about anything!  The main focus is to be there together doing something fun. After a family member became ill, this dynamic duo realized how important it was to spend time with family and really enjoy each others company. And now they’re sharing that opportunity with us!

I got to spend my Saturday morning with these amazing San Antonio bloggers! #BloggingSATX

Sip.This place is DIY, must I say more!?? So ladies and gents, grab your besties and your favorite bottle of wine and come get your creative juices flowing! *Pun totally intended* They provide plastic cups and water, but glasses are available for purchase.

Make it a brunch event and bring mimosas!

Create. The best part, not everyone needs to do the same project! Unlike places like painting with a twist, where everyone follows steps to create the same artwork, at DIY Studio each person gets to choose a project from their ever growing project list. They set up a station with all the required materials and instructions and let you free! They have a vast selection of flowers, paint, and string so that you can personalize your project specific to YOU! They can even do custom designs for FREE as long as you let them know 24 hours prior.

My station with all the supplies I need as well as detailed and easy to follow instruction

Y’all I had SO MUCH fun here! Cindy and Christy are so nice and helpful! They don’t hover over you while you work and are so accommodating! For example, they didn’t have pink in their paint section and were so quick to offer to make me my favorite shade so that my project would come out exactly like I wanted it. Also, they are available to answer all your questions but make sure that you do the project on your own, this is DIY after all. I was so proud of myself for making my Texas string art. I had always seen it on Pinterest and thought it looked so complicated! But these ladies took all the hard work out and instead made it a fun experience!

I cannot recommend this place enough! So please come out and support this local business, it really is a unique concept that everyone should enjoy! And be sure to follow and tag them on Facebook & Instagram, they love seeing and sharing all the amazing artwork people create!

If y’all are looking to book with them make sure you use my code SMALLTOWN to get 10% off!

What do y’all think about my Texas string art? I did pretty good right? What Pinterest project have you always wanted to try?

XO, Mayra
