This weekend we celebrated movies with the Oscars. I had never actually watched the Oscars before, but because bae and I watch so many movies, it seemed fitting that we watch, to see if any of our favorites made it.
I’m gonna go ahead and say that we’re pretty good critics. *winky face*
Some of my favorites that we were rooting for were: The Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born.
We watched the Favourite, and although I thought it was a bit weird, I did recognize the artistic aspects that were there. The acting was good, and the costumes I loved! We still haven’t see BlakkKlansman, If Beale Street Could Talk, Vice or Roma, but they’re on our list to watch! Especially Roma, have you seen how many awards its won already?!?
Let me begin by saying that yes, the Oscars can be kinda boring. There’s a lot of talk and names that we don’t know. But seeing all the stars dressed up is fun, and although the performances are short, they can also be entertaining. (Did you see the way Lady Gaga was looking at Bradley Cooper???)
As for the awards, I am very happy with the outcome!
“Green Book” won best picture. I absolutely love this movie! Bae and I definitely called that it would be wining a lot of awards. Mahershala Ali was amazing, so he definitely deserved supporting actor.
“Black Panther” was also very deserving of it’s awards, especially costume design.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” just blew everyone out of the water! Again, loved this movie, so if you still haven’t seen it, go now! Plus you’ll be singing Queen for days!
I wouldn’t say “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” was one of my top 10, but from a graphics perspective, I see the appeal and why it won. Speaking of animated films, “Bao”, the short film before Incredible 2, is darling and I’m so glad it won!
Being that it’s the first time I’ve seen the Oscars, I was surprised that the amount of movies nominated is so limited. I saw a lot of other movies that I thought deserved a chance. I guess that’s for a different awards show…
Fighting With My Family
One movie that I did see this weekend that I think will be up for an award next year is Fighting With My Family.
This movie has to do with a family that make a living by wrestling. It’s based on a true story and follows Paige, the daughter that gets a chance to wrestle for WWE. But with opportunities come test, test that she has to deal with internally and with her relationships.
Now I don’t care much for wrestling, that was back in my middle school years. But that doesn’t matter, you don’t have to be a fan of WWE to fall in love with this movie. This movie will have you laughing, crying, and feeling inspired. It is so good in telling the story and never feels likes it’s dragging on. I’m not kidding when I say that this movie has already made it to my top 3 movies of 2019!
Did you watch the Oscars? Did you’re favorite film make it?
