I am very picky when it comes to food. Unless I absolutely hate a place, I will give the restaurant two to three tries before I make a permanent judgement of it, but more so if I want to write a review of the place for y’all. Also, because I like to try their different plates.
Today I’ll be reviewing a place that is just a five minute drive from the Pearl:
Grayze is located at 521 E. Grayson. They are about two blocks behind Still Golden and a 10 minute walk from the Pearl. The decor inside is super cute! They usually have artwork inside and go for a rustic feel. I’ve always sat inside, but they also have outside patio seating in the front and in the back.
Service at Grayze has been a hit or miss for us. The first time we went, service was bad. We waited forever and the server didn’t check in with us much. We seriously considered not going again, but because it’s so close to us I knew we had to try again! These past few times, service has gotten a lot better! Fair warning, do expect to wait for your food. So go with good friends and enjoy some mimosas or micheladas (the bar doesn’t take long).
One cool thing that I found out they do is that they partner with non-profits to help them raise money! They do charitable giving nights, where you spread the word and they do a giveback! Earn 10% for your charitable cause while dining in and having fun! Just call Grayze to set up your Grayze Giving Day!
Just like any other restaurant in the area, plates are $10-20 each and cocktails are $5 – 10. If you go with a group of friends, opt for their Mimosa Kit. They offer four different menu variations: Anytime menu, Happy Hour menu, Saturday Brunch/Lunch, and Sunday Brunch/Lunch. Check them out here.
The first time I went to Grayze for brunch was last year and it was very rushed. I ended up getting the Smoked Sausage Hash, which wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned. It wasn’t bad, I just didn’t care much for it. As always, bae came to the rescue and switched me plates. I don’t remember what we had, but I liked it better.
The second time I went, I got the Barbacoa Benny and it was A-MA-ZING, by far my favorite brunch plate here! I posted a picture of it on my Snapchat and everyone was asking me about it!
Then we went again last Saturday. I didn’t know it at the time, but their Saturday Brunch/Lunch menu offers different plates than the Sunday one. We had always gone on Sunday. So I tried The Bird, which was more on the lunch side. While all the ingredients were stuff I would eat, the combination of it all just made my plate too salty. Bae got the Grayze Brunch Burger and if he hadn’t inhaled it, I might have switched him! Lol. I did get a bite in though, and I would recommend it! It also seemed like a popular choice, since the guy at the table next to us also ordered it.
Another thing I learned upon doing research on Grayze is that they can actually host events as well. You can have dinner parties with set menus or a mixer for up to 150 people. You can contact them with inquiries here.
Although we’ve had some hit and miss at Grayze, this is not a restaurant I would cross off my list. I would eventually like to try their Anytime menu and maybe go have some cocktails out on their patios. When I do, I’ll be sure to tell y’all all about it!
Have y’all been to Grayze? What did you like/dislike about it? Let me know in the comments below.
Outfit Details: T-Shirt (Similar, Similar, Similar) | Shorts (Similar, Similar, Similar) | Hat (Similar, Similar, Similar) | Crossbody
I may, or may not have mentioned this before, but I love hats! I think I can pull them off well and they’re a great accessory. I put this one on because it matched my shirt, but when it brought the entire outfit together I was ecstatic! Don’t you just love when one item can take your outfit to the next level?!? Plus with this crazy Texas heat, it doesn’t hurt that a hat adds extra protection from the sun!
