Let's Fiesta San Antonio!

Ah Fiesta, the time of year every San Antonian waits for. Chicken on a stick, flower crowns, and parties on every corner! It’s 10 days of, well, Fiestas!
Today is one of the main events of Fiesta, the Battle of Flowers Parade. It’s a big deal yall! Businesses close down, there’s no school, its like a self proclaimed 3 day weekend in San Antonio only.
This weekend is also the last weekend of Fiesta, which means they have to go out with a bang. Here’s a list of some of the more popular events:
Battle of Flowers After-Party
Following the parade, the Pearl Brewery will be having music, face painting, vendors, and bar specials. It’s always a good time out there, definitely one of my favorite places in all of San Antonio. It’s free and open to the public – perfect way to start my Fiesta weekend!
King William Fair
I have been hearing so much about this event, I just have to go check it out! It’s a family friendly event with a lot of food, live music, and activities. There is also a parade starting at 9:00am. Admission is $15 and FREE for children 12 and under.
A Night In Old San Antonio (NIOSA)
Last year I volunteered at a booth at this event and got a taste of what Fiesta was all about. That’s why this year I knew I had to do more. This event especially. It’s so unique and has something for literally everyone! Downtown SA is broken up into different areas, each representing 15 different region such as China, Ireland, Germany, etc. Enjoy themed music and food in each area. Friday is the last night of NIOSA so I’ll hopefully be heading there after the day activities! Admission is $12 ($15 at the gate) and children 12 and under are FREE.
A Day in Old Mexico
What better way to celebrate my heritage than with a charreada. This even promises food, drinks, Ballet Folklorico performances, and live mariachi music. Adult admission is $20 and child admission is $5 (CASH ONLY).
Ya’ll, there is literally so much going on in San Antonio this weekend you can’t go wrong with any event you attend. Check out the Fiesta website for more information.

One thing I learned about fashion during Fiesta is that people like colors, ruffles, and florals!
For anyone in San Antonio, or planning to come to Fiesta events, let me just give you a warning: those flower crowns were so hard to find! Luckily I found some at Wal Mart, but they were going fast! I got mine for $5, but I’m sure they’ll be vendors on the streets of SA selling them. Or better yet, get creative and make your own!
