Did I tell y’all that I’m taking a trip to Spain and Portugal at the end of the summer? I know, very exciting! It’ll be my first time in Europe. I can hardly wait! And I guess San Antonio must have know because they’ve actually brought a piece of Spain to the Pearl!
Running from June 16- September 16, the Pearl will be hosting a number of events featuring gastronomy, music & dance, and art & architecture straight from Spain! Some events are free, others have a fee, but there is something for everyone!
Last night I attended a free event at Pearl park featuring Primitivo Daza and his dance company, Pure Flamenco. And while I hate talking bad about anyone or anything, I have to be honest with y’all about my experience. We got there at 7:30PM, which is the time the event was set to start and the place was already packed! We luckily found a seat on the green! When we got there it looked like they were barely doing their sound check and were having technical difficulties. That took about 30 minutes, and then they went to get dressed. An HOUR later, at 9:00PM, they came back up to perform. Y’all, I’m a patient person, but I’ve studied event planning and this was just not right. A ton of people left and I would have been one of them if I didn’t really really want to see at least one dance. The dances were good, but I was a bit let down when I didn’t see them come out with the big red dresses like the emoji.
I do want y’all to understand that this is only the first event of Olé that I’ve attended and does not define the rest of the organization or events. Things happen. I will be attending more events going on during this series. And I have hope that they will only get better! I mean these people came all the way from Spain, they have to be the best of the best!
Be sure to check out their website, Olé at Pearl and their Facebook page to keep informed on all their upcoming events. I’ll try to post all the events I think are fun and will attend on my Facebook page so be sure to give it a Like!
These are some events coming up:
Ole, San Antonio! Sherry Tasting – Saturday, July 7
Ole, San Antonio! Wine Tasting – August 25
Remember, these are just a few events, so make sure to check out their website and find ones that fit your schedule! They even have an app!
When I think of Spain , I think red, black and flowers! I’ve had this romper for a while and I got it for a great price at TJ Maxx. I love TJ Maxx, but it’s one of those places where if you find something, it’s like finding gold. It’s limited and just for you. Which unfortunately for my blog means that I can’t share the same exact one with y’all. But I’ve found some pieces below that would make you feel like a flamenco queen yourself. Olé!
