There is nothing harder than picking out outfits for your next trip. It took me over a week to decide what I wanted to wear and what I needed to pack for my one week stay in Paris. So I’ve round up my parisian outfits that I wore in the Winter to help give you some inspiration and hopefully ease the pain of packing!

What Is The Weather Like in Paris in the Winter

I’m not going to lie, it was cold going to Paris in November. But I get cold easily (anything under 74 degrees is cold for me) so take what you will from that. My boyfriend, who went with me and is from the US Northeast, didn’t seem as bothered as me.

The temperatures were in the 40s (F), which didn’t feel bad when you were in the sunshine. What really made it feel a lot cooler was the wind chill. The wind made it feel like it was in the 30s or colder! However, if you plan to do a lot of walking around, you will feel it a lot less.

It was also slightly cloudy and drizzly. We did have rain on some days as well. The overcast didn’t help. It is so much warmer when the sun is out; you can really tell a difference in temperature.

Because I was traveling from Arizona, and have grown up in the south of the US where we don’t have seasons and winters are mild, I did not have a lot of winter clothes to work with.

Also, I was only taking a carry-on bag on this trip, so I was limited on what I could pack. Winter clothes is so heavy and bulky I had to be really strategic on what I should take. Thank goodness for vacuum seal bags, without them, I don’t think I could have packed as much as I did!

*The outfits below are what I could put together from stuff I had in my closet at the time. I have since acquired more jackets and boots.*insert laughing emoji*

Parisian Outfits #1: Tweed Dress

at the Eiffel Tower

Let’s start with my favorite outfit: a cream tweed dress!

When I think tweed, I think warm and I think Chanel. So how could I not take this as one of my parisian outfits?! Of course I had to wear this dress in Paris! And even more so, I had to get a photo with it on in front of the Eiffel Tower.

This dress was warm! It was double layered and I so appreciated it. The long sleeves covered my arms perfectly and the high neck made sure that my upper body was nice and warm.

I paired this dress with some thigh high boots and black tights that I bought in Paris.

This trip was the first time I wore these boots. I know, I’m crazy! Especially because they have a 1in heel to them. However, I don’t know if it was the insert I put in them, or that my feet were just numb from walking so much, or the fact that maybe they are just super comfortable, but I was able to last a long time in them!

I ended up really loving these boots. They kept my feet and legs so warm! And since they are thigh highs, they really covered up a lot of my body so that I only really felt cold in that little gap. Also, they look so cute and go with so many outfits! If you don’t have thigh high boots, go and get some now!

*Check out the person in the background. You can tell how cold people get in Winter in Paris.

Parisian Outfits #2: Jumpsuit

in Monmatrae

Jumpsuits are a great Parisian outfits because they are basically a whole outfit in one!

What I like about jumpsuits, is that unlike rompers, jumpsuits are pants instead of shorts, giving more coverage. Rompers are great for Spring and Summer, but come Winter, you want a jumpsuit so that your legs are covered and protected from the cold wind chill.

My jumpsuit hit half way through my calves, but there are many jumpsuits that cover your legs completely. Also, I’m 5’2″ so this jumpsuit probably fit me longer than other people who are taller. Just be sure you try it on and pick the one you think you’d be warmer in.

My jumpsuit was a spaghetti strap top, so I used a scarf to coverup my arms whenever I wasn’t wearing my jacket. My Louis Vuitton scarf opened up fairly large for me so I was able to wear it interchangeably it from a scarf to a shawl. I love accessories that can be used for multi-purposes!

I also wore my beret that I bought in Paris to help keep me warm. I find that as long as I have my head and feet covered, I am able to maintain a warmer body temperature and I’m not as cold when I am outside.

For shoes, I just wore my Keds, which I always use when travelling. I find Keds to be super cute and comfortable. For extra comfort I will sometimes put these inserts inside.

*Not pictured: a puffer jacket I carried with me to wear when I was walking outside and not taking pictures. The jacket was not cute for pictures so I would take it off and then put it back on after I got my shot. And if you are wondering “do Parisians wear puffer coats?”, yes they do!

Parisian Outfits #3: Long Sleeve Dress

at the Palace of Verseille

When I told my boyfriend that I planned to wear dresses in Paris during winter, he thought I was absolutely bananas. And I guess it’s true that I underestimated how cold it would be, however, if you keep some things in mind when picking out dresses, you can still wear them without freezing your butt off.

I paired this dress with some tights that I purchased in Paris to help protect my legs from the wind chill. These tights weren’t as thick and warm as the black ones I wore with my other parisian outfits, but any layer that you can add, does help!

Definitely, pick dresses with long sleeves and with longer skirts. This dress had a high neck, long sleeves and hit below my knees. My upper body was okay, but my legs could have done with more layering.

I also wore my beret to help keep my head warm, gloves (not pictured), and my super comfortable Keds.

Parisian Outfits #4: Long Sleeve Shirt and Skirt with Thigh High Boots

at the Louvre
at La Cuisine Paris macaroon baking class

And finally, my go to from all the parisian outfits I packed: a long sleeve top, skirt, tights and my favorite thigh high boots. I alternated skirts and tops, and that’s what I love about this outfit combo, it is all interchangeable!

Similar to my cream tweed dress above, I used my thigh high boots because they kept me so warm and were so comfortable!

The photo at the Louvre, was taken early in the morning, but you can see that the sun is creeping out. That day was a sunny day and I didn’t need an additional jacket. The scarf was a small scarf and definitely more of just a fashion statement. I ended up wrapping it around my purse.

The second photo, was at a macaroon baking class. We stood the whole time for that, but luckily I had already broken in my boots even more so standing for 5 hours was no problem!

My top was a button sweater and my bottom was a corduroy skirt. Being inside the kitchen, I almost felt like I was too warm. However, once outside I did feel better that I had worn some thicker material.

As you can see, I tried to cover up as much as my body while still keeping it cute and stylish with my parisian outfits. My arms and my legs were always covered with something, and I used accessories, such as my beret to keep me warm.

Towards the beginning of my week in Paris, it was cloudy and rainy and pretty cold. But as the week progressed, the sun came out more, the wind calmed down, and I was able to wear the cuter of my parisian outfits.

Remember, this is just a round up of what I wore. Wearing jeans or trousers are perfectly acceptable and I saw many people wearing that as well. I personally didn’t take many jeans because they are heavier. I chose the above items because they were lightweight and allowed for more space in my carry-on luggage.

With these outfits, you will be ready to explore all of Europe in the Winter! While you are in France, why not make a trip over to Germany and visit the Berlin Christmas Markets. Look and feel great as you shop some of the cutest markets in Germany!

I hope these parisian outfits that I wore on my recent trip to Paris help you out when packing for your winter trip to Europe! For more travel inspiration, be sure to check out these post:
