Two Month Arizona Update

A month ago, I posted on Instagram that I was leaving San Antonio, leaving Texas and moving to Arizona.

Well it’s been almost two month, and I figured I’d give an update on how things have been and the reasoning behind my move.

Why I Moved

To put it simply, I moved for love. Cheesy I know, but it’s true.

KG is in the military and his new assignment was Arizona. We both knew that long distance would be hard, and honestly I was ready for a change from San Antonio and Texas. I was hoping for Hawaii or Germany, but we don’t really get a say so.

And like I said on Instagram, I usually move every 3-4 years so this is kinda right on time.

How Is Arizona

If you know anything about the military, you know that most post are not in big cities (San Antonio is a gem!). Well KG assignment is no different. Enter Sierra Vista.

Now I’m not going to talk down on Sierra Vista. So far it seems okay, given that I haven’t had much of a chance to go out and explore with everything going on. But it does have a Chipotle and Target so I’m pretty happy. We’re also not too far from Tuscon and because there is little to do in Sierra Vista, it is more of a motivation to go out and explore the Grand Canyon State.

When I posted I was headed to Arizona and asked for recommendations, my friends did not disappoint! It also didn’t take much of a google search to see just how much there is to do in Arizona! I have a long list already of all the places I want to go once everything starts opening up again!

In the two month that I’ve been here, I’ve also completely changed the apartment. Guys decorate in such a simple way. Hehe. KG likes to call me a tornado because I wrecked the apartment for a couple weeks while I searched for things and rearranged everything, but the end results were great. I finally have an office! It’s simple, but it’s a place where I can get away to work if I need to, and that makes me very happy! He also likes to use it since he is currently working from home.

With that being said, it has been hard. I have no job, no friends here, and ultimately no motivation to do anything, partly because I can’t. KG spends a lot of his time working (the reason why we are here) leaving me with countless hours of alone time. Being stuck inside for long periods of time is not good for my mental health. I literally get physically sick because of it. And too much screen time give me headaches. But KG has been great at taking me out on walks and bike rides. Target is only a 10 minute walk from us! But when we don’t go to Target, we take a 3 mile walk around the neighborhood, it’s great bonding time!

I have been playing a lot of Animal Crossing though and that helps serve as a distraction from reality. However, I’m currently stuck on deciding how to terraform/decorate my island so let’s not talk about that…

What’s Next

Sierra Vista is gonna be our home for at least 2-3 more years. I’m optimistic that things will all turn around once it’s safe to open back up. Arizona is an exciting state and I can’t wait to see it for myself! Obvi I will share everything here!

I also have a few trips back to Texas in the next 6 months so that is another thing to look forward to.

I know that I am not alone with all this. So much uncertainty is scary. But I have friends back home who I try to keep in touch with as much as possible and I speak to my family almost daily. Also, KG and I have started to bond and learn from each other in ways that we couldn’t before. And I know I will find a job and make friends here once the time is right.

Until then, I will try to get back to blogging, writing and editing photos which once brought me so much joy!
